A funny thing happened on the way to the Liberal Democrat conference
Sep 19th, 2007 by handolio
Well, it nearly did.
At first glance, this morning’s immigration headlines suggested the LibDems had successfully got their conference agenda into the news. Alas not; a chief constable’s Radio 4 interview appears to have generated at least as much coverage as the party’s immigration amnesty vote.
Anyway, a consequence of living in Brighton is the regular attendance of various conferences at the architecturally-challenged Brighton Centre. As I walked past this morning, a campaigner standing (literally) on a “freedom of speech” platform was addressing a trickle of conference latecomers.
Andrew Neil, ex Sunday Times editor was heading the other way when the campaigner accosted him and asked; “Are you still that famous editor?”
